The St Regis Langkawi

St. Regis Langkawi is the latest five-star hotel in Langkawi. It’s newly open for more than 1 year only. Along the way, I have the chance to visit the property due to work or went there for hi-tea session with the family.

Following are some amazing images of The St. Regis Langkawi.

You could see the intricate design of the property which really live up to the luxury and hi-end resort on the island.

During one of my visit there, we have the chance to see the pool room!

Even the door design has a mixture of North Africa and Middle East design element.

Above image is the view of L’Orangge restaurant, I have the chance to indulge the delicious macaroon and signature St. Regis ice tea (very refreshing)

The above image is the lobby, you could feel the luxury touch and yet relaxing ambient.

Fancy for hi-tea, you may read my hi-tea experience at The St Regis Langkawi here

Guangzhou – Family Trip 2016 (DAY-3 and Departure)

20160130_100618

On day 3, we start our journey early in the morning. The first stop is to visit Sun Yet monument. It’s a very unique building with intricate Chinese carving and you can learn about the history of the Chinese leader. Besides this place is also good for snap shot 😉

The fee to enter this place is also very minimal and you have to pay for the parking too.20160130_10203920160130_100346

After visited the Sun Yet iconic building, we went to wholesale market in Guangzhou. Since we went there 2 weeks before Chinese New Year, so many outlets already close…:(

But one thing is that we had the chance to shop with the local who is preparing for Chinese New Year.

20160130_104218

After testing our shopping skill, we went to a local halal restaurant in Guangzhou, it is located in front of the masjid. the masjid itself is a nice place for a historical visit in Guangzhou. The architecture is a mixed between Chinese, Central Asia and Arabic element. 20160130_142214

The following image is the section for the woman to pray. Look at the architecture…you really feel like you are in the old time of China.20160130_141655

The following image is the minaret for the azan…Subhanallah20160130_125311

This bun is filled with mutton and it is freshly made out of clay oven outside the shop. It is super delicious. How I wish to go there again 🙂20160130_13024220160130_131953

We also ordered chicken and mutton kebab. It served with roti. Yummy!

After finished praying and eating, we went for sight seeing at the town and our last stop is Canton Tower. It is a beautiful sight at night and after having a cup of coffee there we decide to go back to the hotel.20160130_19085320160130_181852

For dinner, me and my husband were commissioned to find a halal restaurant nearby our hotel. Yes..we did find one! Alhamdullilah

Most of the Muslim in Guangzhou is descendant from Uighur. Thus the restaurant call Bazaar serves fusion cooking of Chinese and Uighur. It is simply delicious! They also serve yak…but..who dare to eat that…perhaps I am not that adventurous after all.20160130_202259

So, early in morning we will depart to Langkawi, Malaysia

See you again Guangzhou!

Yummy Lasagna Recipe

One of my colleague called me one morning and she said she dreamed of me cooked lasagna recipe. It was a weird moment, to be honest, and after rationalising it back, it turned out that she’s pregnant!Alhamdulillah… In Malaysia, we believe that if a woman is pregnant and request to eat something, then it is best to fulfil her wish.

So last night, me and my niece cooked the lasagna since our division open house is to be postponed. Kindly refer below for the full recipe. Anyway, the image below is lasagna before baking. I don’t have the chance to snap any picture after bake hahaha:-

The Ingredients – for 6 to 8 people

A. The pasta and beef sauce

  1. 1 box of instant lasagna sheet about 250gm
  2. 400 to 450gm minced beef
  3. 1 carrot – minced
  4. onion – minced
  5. some garlic – minced
  6. 2 stalk of celery – minced
  7. mushroom – slice it
  8. 1 can of tomato puree
  9. 1 tea spoon of all spice powder – optional
  10. Black pepper powder
  11. Salt to taste

B. The white sauce

  1. Cheddar cheese
  2. 4 cup of fresh milk
  3. 4 table spoon of wheat flour
  4. Salt to taste

C. Additional layer – mozzarella and parmesan cheese – optional

Method

A. Beef sauce

  1. Put some oil in medium size pan and let it hot enough to cook the garlic + onion
  2. After saute till slightly brown, put in the minced beef and cook till the water is less
  3. Pour the tomato puree and cook until boiling
  4. Put in all the vegetables (carrot, mushroom and celery)
  5. Put it black pepper powder and salt to taste – I add chicken powder for extra taste

B. White sauce

  1. Start with heating the butter until it melts in the pan
  2. Put in the wheat flour and stir it until it combines
  3. Pour in the fresh milk and ensure the fire is low or medium low
  4. Put in the Cheddar Cheese and stir it until it completely dissolves
  5. stir it until the consistency is thick enough but not very thick – consistency of thick sauce.

Assembly Method

  1. Since I use instant pasta…i need to pour in the beef sauce as the first layer in the baking pan. If you are using normal pasta sheet then you can put the pasta sheet as the first layer.
  2. Followed by instant pasta sheet
  3. Pour in beef sauce
  4. Pour in white sauce
  5. Sprinkel the mozzarella and parmesan cheese
  6. Repeat till finish – pasta, beef sauce, white sauce, cheese sprinkle
  7. Until it becomes like the image below
  8. Bake for 40 minutes with 160 degrees (below heat for 30 minutes and both heat the last 10 minutes)
  9. Leave it cool and serve

Guangzhou – Family Trip 2016 (Day-2)

20160129_100550

After spending a very short visit in HK, we went back to Guangzhou on the second day. We woke up early in the morning from TST and take a train to Hung Hom Station (Kowloon). We bought a one-way ticket to Guangzhou East Station. Above is when we go through the immigration and security check again.

20160128_225159

The train ride to Guangzhou is very convenient, clean and you can order hot chocolate or coffee on the train. Once arrived, we were approached by a man who is offering a transportation service. Well, he is illegal to do that…we only found out later. Well, it turned out that he is only an agent and the one who drives us cannot even speak English. huhuhu…well what to do is to use our survival skill at its best hahaha. We install the WeChat and translation app on phone and use it to communicate.

Here in Guangzhou, we stayed at Oakwood Premier Guangzhou since we come in a group. We choose the apartment and it is a clean and modern apartment with a good price. The kitchen is complete to cook a simple meal and it also has washing machine with dryer. Which is very great! You may find the hotel from this link Tripadvisor review . It is actually rated at number one due to its services offered and best rate I guess.

We made our booking via Agoda.com

After check in and some rest. We went outside to discover this great city. Despite not understanding the Chinese language, we try to take the bus to Beijing Street. It’s actually the best decision to immerse yourself in the local lifestyle. Beijing Street is actually one of the tourist hotspot in Guangzhou, local and tourist go there for shopping.

20160129_16395120160129_17271020160129_185454

We shop there till night fall hehehe. Well after tired of shopping, it’s time to go back to the hotel. However, we have trouble to find a taxi during this peak hour. In the end, by using our survival skill again, thanks to technology – the internet…we took an underground train and eventually it stopped in the mall in front of our hotel. Whewww

This night, we had a very good night sleep…zzzz

Guangzhou – Family Trip 2016 (Day-1)

So after having a really good night sleep due to hectic travelling day yesterday. Everybody is ready to discover Hong Kong on day two. We started our day by having breakfast at McDonald near the ferry terminal to HK island. After having coffee and muffin we went to the main island by ferry made from woods which I think they should keep it that way as it is very rustic

The ferry ride is about 10 minutes, our mission today is to visit The Peak which is the highest mountain in HK island I guess. Since we are in a group, thus, we decided to take a cheap travel to discover HK. Taxi doesn’t work best for us because we will need two taxies to accommodate everybody. Thus what we did was to go to IFC Mall which is very near to Apple Centre which will be seen from far while you are walking on the bridge walkway.

20160128_101735

From IFC Mall we go to level down to take a mini bus up to The Peak. It was super cheap, which is very good for us! From IFC, the bus takes us up the hill with a scenic city view as well as fancy residential near the hillside. The bus finally stops at the ground level and you just have to take the escalator up to The Peak. Before you reach The Peak building, you will go through a shopping complex with small shops and eateries.

Since the journey is during winter seasons, I would like to advise you to bring along umbrella. It was raining when we reached there and luckily we have the jacket with hood. But some don’t have it, so it’s troublesome and not a good idea to walk under the freezing rain.

View from The Peak during winter

That’s the view during winter time in Hong Kong. So after taking enough snapshot, we went down to the main building at The Peak.

20160128_120951.jpg

A train display in front of The Peak building.

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong

So what’s inside The Peak? Well, there are numbers of places of interest such as Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, special viewing deck (but it is not free, perhaps because it is higher than the viewing deck earlier), eateries and shopping outlets. After spending enough time here, we take a tram down the hill. The tram station is actually inside The Peak building.

20160128_122908

So after reach the ground station, we make our way for lunch at nearby Muslim food court at Masjid. I can’t really remember the name of the masjid. All of us also forgot to take any snapshot at the masjid due to the reason that we are very hungry at the time hahaha.

20160128_135634

After lunch, we went for sight seeing on the tram. Local called it ding ding. We also went to Hong Kong Disneyland route, just to recce the place. We will make a comeback Insya Allah.

After that, we went to the local night market near to TST. The price is good, but later..we found out that the seller actually gathers the goods from Guangzhou, which is a way cheaper sob 😥 .

So this is the restaurant that we went for dinner.

This restaurant is actually just across the road from Citadines Ashley HK. So it’s time to rest and I will continue the 3rd day posting in the next blog.

Hi Tea @ The St Regis Langkawi

This eid was by far the most precious eid that we have. Alhamdullilah for that. After a month of fasting from before sunrise to sunset, all Muslim all over the world celebrated this special day together with family and friends.

As for this year, all of our family gathered in Langkawi as well as my uncle, aunt and cousins from Brunei to celebrate this Eid. Our quite house became lively for about a week. Before Eid, the woman of the house is busy preparing special dishes as for man, they are busy cleaning in and out the house.

However, there are times when we are too tired to cook then dine out is the best option at that time. However, the highlight of the dining out is the hi-tea session at The St. Regis Langkawi. It was outstanding experience when you have it with your special ones.

They were 10 of us went for the hi-tea session and we ordered only 3 set while the rest ordered extra drinks. It’s good that we didn’t listen to the suggestions from the attentive staffs to order 5 set.😅 Even with the 3 set we still not managed to finish it all.

The pastry and finger food served are scrumptious. They have upgraded the serving as compared when the hotel first open. Kudos to the new team who uplift the service!

As you can see, St Regis also featured luxury branding on their pastry, which makes it even sweeter to indulge haha.

I would like to recommend for any gathering here. After all the price is very reasonable for the service offer plus the setting is in St Regis. It is MYR135 per set and trusts me it’s worthy of a special occasion. Reservations are advisable so that the team can set up the place according to your number of people.

So that’s all for now. Thanks for reading!

Guangzhou – Family Trip 2016 (Departure Day)

Our travel start when Air Asia started it’s inaugural flight from Langkawi to Guangzhou since January 2016. I feel very lucky as an island girl and seeing this island is becoming more convenient than before. Thanks for all this Allah, may this island becoming a better tourist destination and bring more benefit to the local. Anyway, I do hope the greenery of this Island will be preserved. I don’t want Langkawi to be the second Penang 😥

Back to the real story, we departed from Langkawi late mid-night around 12am or even later. I can’t really remember LOL

I remember it was about 1 or 2 weeks before Chinese New Year and it’s freezing in Guangzhou at that time. We were so excited since this is our first family gathering to China. We also decided to travel to Hong Kong by train once we touched down Guangzhou. So as a Malaysian, we need a visa of course! we did our visa through a travel agent in Kuala Lumpur about 3 weeks before departure and we request double-entry since we are coming for the second time from Hong Kong as well.

20160127_071311

So once we arrive Guangzhou, the first thing we did is to buy a train ticket at the convenient shop which is one floor down after you got your immigration stamp. Then we took a train to East Railway Station to depart to Hong Kong. It’s quite tricky here as the local cannot really speak English. However, my sister managed to ask one Western lady and she guide us where to buy the train ticket to Hong Kong. It was actually on the upper floor. As you can see, the railway station in Guangzhou is quite empty since it is very late at night.

The train ticket

So after we get our train ticket which cost us about 175 Chinese Renminbi/person we need to go through a security check look for coach number 2. It is a very convenient ride, to be honest. I am referring to the sq ft of space at the seat, toilet and you can order hot tea or coffee too.

Finally, we arrive Hong Kong! yeay

20160127_105311

After the immigration stamp, we go to the nearby metro station to go to Tsim Sha Tsui station or local call it TST. We stay at Citadines Ashley aparthotel. It’s conveniently located at TST and nearby to go to tourists attractions. Talking about Hong Kong, the sq ft is really small as compared to what we used to get in Malaysia. Unless you have the fortune to spend then you may choose the 4 or 5-star hotels here.

The good thing about Citadines Ashley Hong Kong is that it equips with stove and cooking pot which we can prepare our instant noodle hahaha. But anyway, there are many halal restaurants located nearby this hotel one is only next door small halal cafe and in front of the hotel as well. The halal sign is also from a certified body! Great isn’t it? Alhamdullilah

So after check in, it’s time to eat!

20160127_154219

This is the waterfront nearby to Citadines Ashley, it is winter here at that time. Thus the sky is always grey which I Love!

Continue with the next post in the upcoming blog!

Bismillah

As for today, i would like to set my goal to achieve something useful in life through blogging. I had a page on blogger, yet, i feel like i prefer to use wordpress now. Hopefully, i will take this seriously and not ‘hangat-hangat taik ayam’. *Sigh*

Why i do this? Simply because i want to keep track what is going on in my life, my travel, the food i cook, the movies i watched, my cats’ life and anything i feel it is necessary hehehe

So let’s start with my first passion, travelling. For me, to travel or now people keep saying another term which is wander-luster is really my passion. In fact this is what i asked Allah in front of Kaabah and SubhanAllah he granted my very doa.

I has been travelling even before i went for umrah, however, with that particular doa, Allah really fate me to work in travel related job. Until recently, i feel a little bit tired due to the reason i have been travelling with bosses. My bosses really ruin my wanderlust.

Thus, it is really true when someone said travelling is not about visiting new places, it is also about the people you meet along the way. Now about my second passion, which is cooking. Honestly, i am getting better in cooking after i get married. Thanks for my husband who is very choosy when it come to food. Well which is really good hehehe. So his choosiness in food drives me to learn more about cooking. Well obviously i love him, so okay i’m willing to learn and in times he actually effected me to become choosy too. But still not as choosy as him ;).

Till then, i hope there will be a second post right after this.

First blog post

Hi, I just felt so bored today. Yes, I have so many works at the office but I just felt bored.

Suddenly I came across the pionerwoman page on Facebook and have a look at her live video. She mentioned that she started all this cooking show from a blog and she encourages to start blogging and never stop. Here I am now trying to start it all over again hahaha. We’ll see again this time how it goes
